halo wordpress Some Great Wordpress Plugins

WordPress is by far the most popular blogging system known to man. It provides a great back-end with great flexibility and customization without having a complex management console to navigate. It powers this blog right here. Here is a number of plugins which you should take a look at, When installing or running a WordPress website.

The first few plugins are based around SEO and broadcasting your blog to the world.

  1. Google XML Sitemap – An essential plugin for bloggers to generate XML enabled sitemaps to aid with indexing by search engines like Google, MSN, Ask and more. This plugin has said 2.1 compatible for ages now, but it continues to work with the various updates.
  2. SEO Friendly Images – Assists with the automatic adding of ALT and TITLE tags to your images for better search engine placement.
  3. SEO Slugs – Removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ from post slugs to improve SEO.
  4. Breadcrumb NavXT – Core – Adds a breadcrumb navigation showing the visitor’s path to their current location. This plug-in provides direct access to the bcn_breadcrumb_trail class without using the administrative interface.
  5. FeedBurner FeedSmith – The essential plugin for anyone who wants to use FeedBurner to monitor their number of RSS subscribers.
  6. Share This – ShareThis still leads the way in social media sharing, and while the little green button does not yet say it is 2.7 compatible, it is working none the less.
  7. Google Analyticator – Google Analyticator takes all the work out of adding Google Analytics to your site.  Install the plugin, enter your tracking code in the settings, and this handy plugin will place the code where it needs to be no matter which theme you switch to. This is a required tool if you want to monitor your visitors and what they’re visiting.
