DNS Reporting Tools

June 19th, 2009

dns toolsIf you’ve ever had those times when your website or emails are just not working how they should, the first thing you can do to see where the problem possibly resides is to get a DNS report on your domain.

A good DNS report can tell you many things including what name servers your domain is currently using, what MX (email) records are attached to your domain, what IP address your domain name is assigned to, plus a whole lot more. Once you have these details you can start working out if there are any problems with your domain’s current DNS configuration and potentially who you should be contacting to get the problems sorted.

Below is a small list of some free DNS reporting websites that you may find handy when the time comes. Some of these sites also offer paid advanced services as well, but their basic free tools will suffice for the average web user.
