Bing adds Features from Wolfram|Alpha
We’ve been keeping an keen eye on search developments this year, monitoring SEO performance and search and feature results across all the big names and the search game is definitely heating up each month. Although the initial novelty of Microsoft’s Bing search engine has worn of slightly, they’ve shown quite a commitment to making big moves with various partnerships and data center expansions.
They’ve certainly been busy this week rolling out upgrades to Bing’s search features and results. The main news being Microsoft’s new partnership with Wolfram Research, the team behind the Wolfram|Alpha search engine launched in May. Bing has now integrated many of Wolfram|Alpha’s features, adding tens of thousands of algorithms and trillions of pieces of expertly curated data from Wolfram|Alpha.
Microsoft also updated Bing Videos and folded MSN Videos into the new webpage, where users can find TV shows (over 900, Microsoft says), videos, and content from top sites such as Hulu, MSN, ABC, and YouTube. More features are reportedly coming with improvements to Bing Travel, which lets you plan and book trips, hundreds of cities will now include enhanced results that include information on local attractions, points of interest, neighborhoods, high-resolution slide shows, and other local data sources like newspaper websites. Also, a new Bing Events tool which will provide a quick summary of events in major cities with various filtering options.
