Government issues IE Security Warning

January 20th, 2010

For the majority of people who are concerned with proper browser functionality and of course security, Internet Explorer would certainly not be a preferred browser choice. For many web designers Internet Explorer remains a headache that must be catered for because of the large number of users out there who refuse to switch or are unable to upgrade from long outdated versions such as IE6, which have many problems with modern HTML/CSS code.

European Government’s such as France have long warned their citizens to move away from Microsoft’s flagship browser and even other Microsoft products and  now the Australian Government has joined in with it’s own warnings about Internet Explorer:

The Federal Government is warning that people risk having their computers infiltrated and passwords stolen unless they install temporary fixes from Microsoft or use alternative browsers.

The Government says Microsoft has acknowledged all recent versions of the program are vulnerable.

It also says people should remember to regularly update their security software and change passwords frequently.

The French and German governments have also warned internet users in Europe to avoid Microsoft’s popular web browser.
