According to a Reuters report today, Skype is entertaining buyout offers from both Google and Facebook in what would surely be one of the biggest tech deals of recent history.

Skype is reportedly talking to Facebook about a possible deal. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been involved in internal discussions about buying Skype, while Facebook also reached out to the Luxembourg-based company about forming a joint venture, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the discussions, cited by Reuters.

The deal would make sense — it would give Facebook an immediate way to add voice and video conferencing options for it’s 600million users. Google already has a voice & video chat service called Google Chat but it might be interested in the deal to keep the current market leading voice chat service out of it’s top rival’s hands.

Skype filed for an IPO last year, but in January the company delayed it until late 2011, and sources at the time said Skype might consider a buyout for $5 to $6 billion. A competitive bidding situation such as Facebook & Google would probably raise the price even higher.
